Summary of the topic
We
have learnt that the problems of maintaining an effective agricultural
extension service can be related to the lack of a rational policy or an
unstable policy framework. Lessons from the past can serve as a guide to the
future in formulating relevant and useful extension policies in developing
countries. There is a need to devise policies that address both farmers' needs
and environmental concerns. The other policy issues needed to address in a
national extension programs should be the quality and number of the technical
and professional staff in the organization, stability, and funding stability.
