Welcome to the Maths Teacher Education Interest Group. This interest group page provides a space where maths teacher educators can find resource material and meet colleagues involved in training maths teachers for African schools.
The conceptualisation of the interest group is based on the South African experience but we believe that the issues are similar across the continent and welcome comments and input from users across the African continent to broaden our perspective and research base. The three selected focus areas for the Maths Interest Group are Curriculum, Content and Pedagogy, and Assessment.
In the Mathes Interest Group, you will find good quality teaching materials which are available as Open Educational Resources (OER) to teacher educators at all levels – primary, secondary and senior secondary. Although mainly aimed at teacher educators, teachers and other users are free to access and benefit.
The OER nature of the resources means that they are digitised materials offered freely and openly for educators, students and self-learners to use and re-use for teaching, learning and research without an accompanying need to pay royalties or licence fees.
