Good communication is a vital aspect of our everyday life. Having a better understanding of what it is and how to encode thoughts into words, phrases, clauses and paragraphs goes a long way in ensuring success in academia.
This course introduces students to intensive study practices and effective communication skills. It also aims at providing students with the requisite knowledge on some grammatical items and punctuation rules, to enable them construct correct sentences and use punctuation marks appropriately. Additionally, it analyzes paragraphs, and how sentences are put together to form a single idea.
Topics vary from week to week. These include Types of Learners, The Study Cycle, Types of Communication, Barriers to Effective Communication, Techniques for Effective Communication, Lexis and Structure, Punctuation and Paragraphing.
